Dakota Access Pipeline

UPDATE:

A group of women in my Women's tribe is going to the Dakota Access Pipeline with supplies for the Water Protectors! I *may* write a second article in regards to this new update. Details are yet unknown. We are still scrambling to gather the supplies to send with them! Please let me know if you are interested in helping with this endeavor! Thanks!

*Special Note: Check into Standing Rock on Facebook daily! Make the check-in public to confuse police monitoring who is there. Private message anyone who tells you to stay safe. With roughly 1.4 million people checking into Standing Rock, it has now reached the news! Even if you can't help send supplies, there are still things you can do to help! Keep fighting! This is far from over!

NEW:

10 Ways to Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline!

This is the newest thing that's causing mayhem in the USA. There are so many disasters plaguing the country that you'd almost think we were cursed. I saw a meme the other day that mentioned 'almost as if an ancient burial ground had been disturbed'. *I can't find it now, so feel free to leave a comment if you do find it.

First of all, welcome to the 21st century. Why the bloody hell are we still using fossil fuels knowing that it will cause a lot of problems?! I'm noticing a trend with the government poisoning our water supply. Did they forget about Flint, Michigan? They are still having problems with their water! That doesn't get fixed over night. We do not need to use fossil fuels (crude oil) anymore! There are much more efficient and safe energy sources at our disposal. Solar power. Wind power. We can even use the bloody ocean currents now!!! Pipelines leak! They break. They are not reliable. This will surely add several more disasters to our country.

Let's move on to the ethics, now. The land that is being currently disturbed belongs to the Native Americans. Those are their lands, not the government's. This is not an issue that is solely a USA matter, this involves a U.N. declaration!

These are the burial grounds and sacred sites of the original Americans. This was, and still is, their home. Their home that the colonials stole. And now we are treating the indigenous people with extreme disrespect, to put it very lightly. They are starving. They are living one tiny step above poverty levels. Hundreds, if not thousands, die every year due to freezing to death because of insufficient shelter. The government treats these human beings like vermin.

This is not just a Sioux tribe issue. This is an everyone issue. I don't care what the color of your skin is. I don't care what your heritage is. This is a human rights issue. And as long as you live on this planet, this should bother you! You need to stand up and fight for what is right! And if you could care less about what's going on with the Dakota Access Pipeline, if you don't feel that you need to fight this, then perhaps a history lesson?

I just watched a documentary about how the earth was formed (for the first time since my freshman year in high school). Did you know that because of the immense amount of CO2 there was in the atmosphere, life could not exist above the water?  It was way too hot, and life cannot exist without oxygen. But as the volcanoes rose up out of the vast oceans, the CO2 from the acid rain was absorbed into the rocks before what was called "Snowball Earth" (the entire planet was encased in miles of ice). After the volcanoes finally broke through all that ice, they started to give off massive amounts of CO2 again. Except this time, there were no rocks or dirt to absorb it. The planet got super hot once again. The process that lead to life on land literally took millions of years. The human race is destroying millions of years worth of history.

Yes, that video is an hour and a half long. If that information doesn't scare you, then you are a lost cause. That is science. By digging up these fossil fuels and emitting them back into the air, we are killing our ozone layer. This in turn, will kill us. The Dakota Access Pipeline MUST BE STOPPED!!!

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil fixes everything! Well... Almost everything. I recently had this amazing epiphany in regards to coconut oil! I'd like to share some of what I know with you. No tricks or gimmicks. This is real stuff!

If you've lost a lot of weight or had a baby and still have some loose skin, get globs of pressed coconut oil and just rubs it in for at least 10 minutes three times a day. If you have time, coat your midsection with coconut oil and wraps yourself up with seran wrap for a bit. Whatever your comfortable with, just don't do it all day. Coconut oil is a great moisturizer for your whole body - add essential oils to it to give it a nice smell if you like. There's even an oil blend for cellulite. Together, the cellulite blend and the coconut oil work great with trouble areas. No need to buy expensive wraps! *To assist your healing, you should also try to stay away from sugary foods and try to exercise regularly. And while this does help immensely, it's been a couple months and I still do have some loose skin. Remember that healing takes time. Be kind to yourself.
Bad teeth and can't see a dentist? Try oil pulling with coconut oil! My cavity has started to heal since I started using coconut oil. It's white now instead of being smelly and decaying. My teeth don't hurt as much, and it actually helps whiten your teeth, too! Don't like the taste? Add a couple drops of peppermint essential oil. Oil pulling is basically just swishing the coconut oil around in your mouth for a few minutes. I've read that you should swish and pull the oil through your teeth for about 20 minutes, but if your mouth starts to hurt, it's ok to build up to that. *Do NOT spit down the drain. It will harden and clog your pipes! Spit it out in the trash. Please also note that while some people might say that their cavities went away (essentially that their teeth grew back), that this is not the case. You must see a dentist to permanently fix your cavities. My tooth did not grow back; it simply stopped decaying.
Coconut oil is good for your hair. I suggest using it as a conditioner in the shower or leave it in over night and wash it out in the morning. It will soften your hair and leave it feeling healthier.
Ladies, coconut oil is good for keeping your yoni's pH balance in check. Use it as lube or just apply it yourself. This is especially helpful if you get a UTI or are prone to them.
Basically, coconut oil is the answer for just about everything. I hope this helps you!

Culture Me

So, for the past week, I've been seeking out information to educate myself in other cultures. I admit that I only got the tip of the ice berg. There is still a vast amount that I don't know, and never will since I cannot experience anything first hand. See, I am a white American female; sure, I can tell you that I'm part Irish, German, Cherokee Indian and Dutch, but that doesn't change the fact that I have an advantage in American culture just because of the color of my skin. I will never experience racism or social injustices like so many of the peoples of this country do. The sad part is that all of the societal problems that are happening are being swept under the rug. People are turning a blind eye because that's just easier for them rather than helping to fix the problem. The news today is very biased and one-sided. You hear about terrible things, and most people choose not to see through the bull shit.

For example, Trayvon Martin. He was a black teenager painted to be the bad guy when all he was doing was walking down the street with his hood up. There was absolutely NO REASON for him to be shot and killed . . . and yet, that police officer was praised by the people. Sure, there was some out cry, but not nearly as much as there should have been. This happens every day. Mothers of color worry about their sons, scared to death that they'll be next for a crime they didn't commit. Or how about the Dakota Access Pipeline situation? That's cutting through sacred Native American territory. There's police brutality and discrimination going on there. This is a peaceful protest that the government - because the police are an extension of the government - is trying to turn violent. There is no reason for the police to have armored gear and attack dogs.

I learned the reasons for the stereotypes we have for people from India and why we believe they are so much smarter than us. I learned that Native Americans do NOT live as well as the government wants us to believe; they basically live one tiny step above poverty levels. Not cool. At. All. I learned that a lot of Native Americans drink a lot to ease their pain and anger. I learned that the Middle Easterners are suffering a lot more than what the news is stating; I listen to NPR, and that seems to be one of the very few reliable news sources left. Palestinians are being forced from their homes and feel oppressed, injustice and extremely discriminated against in their homes in Israel and are not allowed to go back to their homes in Palestine.

Let's not forget the LGBTQ community, either. Love is love; and as long as we aren't killing, hurting, maiming or otherwise causing harm to each other, WHO BLOODY CARES WHAT'S GOING ON BEHIND CLOSED DOORS?!?! If you're against it, then don't participate! For example, if you don't smoke and someone offers you a cigarette, you say, "No, thanks. I don't smoke" and be done with it! People commit suicide over being so horribly treated because of their life's path! I have the firm belief that you can't choose who you love, you just love who you love. Why is it more acceptable for people to open carry military grade weapons into a coffee shop, but it's completely unacceptable for two men to hold hands. Everyone wants world peace, yet they are so unwilling to be loving and accepting. (P.S. I'm bisexual, but lean more towards men.)

***Let me give you an embarrassing moment of my childhood; I was in elementary school at the time. I was visiting San Diego to see my late grandparents and my family had stopped in a little Mexican restaurant for lunch. Towards the end of our meal, my little mouth blurts as loud as I can, "Why did the Mexicans invade America?". Which my parents promptly got angry at me for, paid immediately and left faster than you could blink. They gave me a very stern talking to, and asked where I had even heard that. And then continued to educate me that most of the United States actually was Mexico before we went in guns a blazing and kicking everyone out of their homes - and things still haven't changed much. Mexicans never invaded the United States, white people did. White people forced the Native Americans off their lands. White people caused hell to the African people they stole from their homes and enslaved. And yet, white people have the audacity to paint peoples of color as the monsters; that needs to end. Alas, this is the product of the American education system. I have since come a long way in trying to better understand the world around me.

I mention that last bit to show you that I am not perfect. I am still learning, and because my parents did educate me properly, my eyes have been opened to just how corrupt and biased the system is. I actually had the extreme pleasure of speaking with a Mexican American who spoke of the true and wholesome values of Mexicans. Family, faith, and hard work. Honestly, most Americans today could definitely learn something from Mexicans and Mexican Americans. These people have a deep culture of love and passion; values that are truly worth gaining.

I had the great pleasure of speaking to several people about this. In order to complete this feat, I used Simbi as a platform to get my request out there. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and the people that I have met are truly amazing (save for the one person who thought I was requesting this because it's a 'fad'). Go check out my previous post about Simbi and go meet the wonderful peoples of the world! Learn from each other about the differences in culture. This is how we bring about peace; by understanding one another. Let's hold hands, let's understand each other, let's escort peace into this world.
