Dakota Access Pipeline

UPDATE:

A group of women in my Women's tribe is going to the Dakota Access Pipeline with supplies for the Water Protectors! I *may* write a second article in regards to this new update. Details are yet unknown. We are still scrambling to gather the supplies to send with them! Please let me know if you are interested in helping with this endeavor! Thanks!

*Special Note: Check into Standing Rock on Facebook daily! Make the check-in public to confuse police monitoring who is there. Private message anyone who tells you to stay safe. With roughly 1.4 million people checking into Standing Rock, it has now reached the news! Even if you can't help send supplies, there are still things you can do to help! Keep fighting! This is far from over!

10 Ways to Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline!

This is the newest thing that's causing mayhem in the USA. There are so many disasters plaguing the country that you'd almost think we were cursed. I saw a meme the other day that mentioned 'almost as if an ancient burial ground had been disturbed'. *I can't find it now, so feel free to leave a comment if you do find it.

First of all, welcome to the 21st century. Why the bloody hell are we still using fossil fuels knowing that it will cause a lot of problems?! I'm noticing a trend with the government poisoning our water supply. Did they forget about Flint, Michigan? They are still having problems with their water! That doesn't get fixed over night. We do not need to use fossil fuels (crude oil) anymore! There are much more efficient and safe energy sources at our disposal. Solar power. Wind power. We can even use the bloody ocean currents now!!! Pipelines leak! They break. They are not reliable. This will surely add several more disasters to our country.

Let's move on to the ethics, now. The land that is being currently disturbed belongs to the Native Americans. Those are their lands, not the government's. This is not an issue that is solely a USA matter, this involves a U.N. declaration!

These are the burial grounds and sacred sites of the original Americans. This was, and still is, their home. Their home that the colonials stole. And now we are treating the indigenous people with extreme disrespect, to put it very lightly. They are starving. They are living one tiny step above poverty levels. Hundreds, if not thousands, die every year due to freezing to death because of insufficient shelter. The government treats these human beings like vermin.

This is not just a Sioux tribe issue. This is an everyone issue. I don't care what the color of your skin is. I don't care what your heritage is. This is a human rights issue. And as long as you live on this planet, this should bother you! You need to stand up and fight for what is right! And if you could care less about what's going on with the Dakota Access Pipeline, if you don't feel that you need to fight this, then perhaps a history lesson?

I just watched a documentary about how the earth was formed (for the first time since my freshman year in high school). Did you know that because of the immense amount of CO2 there was in the atmosphere, life could not exist above the water?  It was way too hot, and life cannot exist without oxygen. But as the volcanoes rose up out of the vast oceans, the CO2 from the acid rain was absorbed into the rocks before what was called "Snowball Earth" (the entire planet was encased in miles of ice). After the volcanoes finally broke through all that ice, they started to give off massive amounts of CO2 again. Except this time, there were no rocks or dirt to absorb it. The planet got super hot once again. The process that lead to life on land literally took millions of years. The human race is destroying millions of years worth of history.

Yes, that video is an hour and a half long. If that information doesn't scare you, then you are a lost cause. That is science. By digging up these fossil fuels and emitting them back into the air, we are killing our ozone layer. This in turn, will kill us. The Dakota Access Pipeline MUST BE STOPPED!!!
